There are many installers available for Eclipse based on what you need: https://eclipse.org/downloads/index-developer-default.php. Here in this article we will see the steps for ‘Kepler’ version of Eclipse. One thing more which is very important to know is that, Kepler version is meant for Java 7 but it can work with Java 8 using a patch installation.
How to Install Eclipse :
Step 1) Now to start with, first step is to go to : http://www.eclipse.org/downloads/packages/eclipse-standard-432/keplersr2 and click on ‘Download’ to get the eclipse Kepler installer. Before you actually download any of these, you MUST know the type of windows you have. Is it 64 bit or 32 bit or if you have Linux operating system. So choose your installer accordingly.
Step 2) Click on the link and you will see something like this :
Step 3) Save the Installer file on your computer any where. This would result in a zip file saved on your machine.
Step 4) Now right click on the saved zip and Extract the zip file to a suitable place or where you keep all other software.
Step 5) Open the extracted folder now and look for a file named eclipse.exe like below:
Step 6) Double click on that exe file and let Eclipse start.
Step 7) It will ask you for a workspace path and in that case, let it accept the default path or choose your own one which you think is suitable for your work to be saved.
Step 8) Now to check if JDK has been set for its functioning, you need to go to Windows -> Preferences
Step 9) It should already be showing you the JRE selected which is installed on your machine. In our case it is Java 8 which is installed already.
